Doritos issue urgent recall notice for Tangy Cheese packets bought in Tesco that may be harmful to anyone with soya allergy

  • The affected Doritos products were sold in Tesco and Poundland
  • The Food Standards Agency said the Doritos Tangy Cheese may contain soya 

Doritos has been forced to withdraw a popular product from sale after they discovered undeclared soya in the snack which is a potential health risk for people with allergies. 

The Food Standards Agency issued an alert after Doritos Tangy Cheese was mispacked with Doritos Chilli heatwave – which contains soya. 

The affected products, Doritos Tangy Cheese 180g is sold only in Tescos. While Poundland stocks Doritos Tangy Cheese 5x30g multipacks. These were also mispacked and pose a possible risk. 

Both products have a best before date of June 1, 2024.

According to the Food Standards Agency: ‘Doritos is recalling the above product from customers and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall. 

‘The company has also issued a recall notice to customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.’ 

The FSA said customers should not eat the product and should instead call a Customer Care Line on 0800 274 777 to arrange a full refund. 

On Thursday, Lidl was forced to recall six types of cookies over fears they may contain metal. 

Earlier in the month, Ambrosia was forced to recall a selection of rice pudding and custard pots over fears they may contain ‘pieces of plastic’. 

Meanwhile, Asda was forced to withdraw from sale their own-brand has browns after they were mispacked with potato croquettes – which contain milk and wheat – meaning the pose a risk to people with dairy or gluten allergies.
