England fans are convinced that Mason Mount is ‘definitely going to the Euros’ after Man United midfielder was seen modelling Three Lions’ new kit… as they claim Gareth Southgate ‘LOVES’ the former Chelsea playmaker

England fans are convinced Mason Mount will be in England’s squad for Euro 2024 after he was pictured in the side’s new kit.

The midfielder hasn’t played for his country in over a year, his last cap coming in the 2022 World Cup quarter-final defeat to France, struggling with form and injury since the competition.

He was left out of the squad in the last international break – the final one before manager Gareth Southgate names his provisional squad for the summer’s tournament, and has recently returned from a long injury lay-off.

Mount looked to have scored a winner for Manchester United against Brentford at the weekend, slotting in in extra time to announce his return to action with a bang but for Kristoffer Ajer to equalise moments later.

And supporters reckon he has a chance of making the summer’s squad after he was spotted at the recent kit launch, donning the new strip despite not currently being part of the squad.

‘Didn’t notice before now but Mason Mount was at the England kit launch (with a wholesome hug for fellow United no. 7 Ella Toone),’ one fan posted on X, formerly Twitter. ‘Not seen him in anyone’s predicted Euros squad but if he has a strong end of the season it wouldn’t surprise me.. he’s top class and a Southgate fave!’

Another posted: ‘Southgate watched Gallagher for a week and decided it’s Mount time,’ while a third added: ‘He’s going to the euros Southgate loves him.’

Mount was snapped in England’s new purple kit on TikTok, despite having made just 14 club appearances this season.

He was a vital part of Southgate’s plans before injury, picking up a total of 36 caps for his country since debuting in 2019, all coming under Southgate.

There is still concern over one midfield place in the England side, with Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham’s places nailed but the third spot up for debate.

The likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Kobbie Mainoo and Gallagher have filled it in recent games, the occupant is far from decided and Mount could make a late dash for selection.

Things haven’t gone to plan for the 25-year-old since his £60million move to Old Trafford in the summer, but now he is fit he will be hoping he can kick on for the rest of the season.

United are sixth in the Premier League table following their draw with Brentford, with Erik ten Hag’s side having nine games remaining this campaign though a game in hand on those above them.

They are 11 points adrift of Aston Villa in fourth.

Southgate is set to name a provisional Euros squad just days after the season ends before trimming the group down for the competition.
