Man, 22, is charged with murder after woman in her 50s is found dead at property in leafy Leicestershire village


A man has been charged with murder after a woman was found dead at a property in a leafy village at the weekend.

Gregor Bauld, 22, of The Coppice, Burbage, has been charged with murder and possession of a bladed article. 

He is due to appear before Leicester Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

Police were called to the home in Burbage, Leicestershire, at 11.20am on Sunday by East Midlands Ambulance Service.

Despite the efforts of paramedics, the woman in her 50s was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

Police arrested the man on the quaint cul-de-sac where properties can sell for up to £650,000.

Leicestershire Police said formal identification has not yet taken place and a post-mortem examination will be carried out in due course.

A cordon remains in place while inquiries continue. Floral tributes have been left outside the front door of the property.

Detective Inspector Mark Parish, senior investigating officer, previously said: ‘Officers will remain at the scene as our investigation progresses, and we continue to investigate the full circumstances of what happened.

‘I appreciate that the nature of the incident may cause some concern among residents in the area. 

‘However, I would like to reassure them that this is an isolated incident, and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

‘If there is anyone who hasn’t as yet spoken to police and may have information connected to this incident, I would urge you to please get in contact with us, as what you saw or heard may be of significant to our investigation.’
